A former San Antonio Police Officer has pled guilty to taking bribes and he faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in January, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Curtis Lundy pled guilty in federal court on Thursday to charges of theft by wire fraud.

The FBI says Lundy arrested a man with marijuana, and then offered to drop the charges if the suspect would pay him $500.

Testimony at the plea hearing indicated that Lundy was dispatched to a north side apartment complex last December on a report of a disturbance, and when he arrived he discovered a small amount of marijuana in the man's car.

Lundy told the man that he would make his problems go away for $400, an amount later upped to $500.

Police Chief William McManus personally participated in Lundy's arrest.
