Former Taliban POW and current Ft. Sam Houston soldier Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will have to wait another few weeks to determine if he will face charges in connection with his becoming a captive in Afghanistan in 2009, Newsradio 1200 WOAI reports.
Friday was supposed to be Gen. Kenneth Dahl's deadline for recommending whether Bergdahl should be court martialed. But Dahl has asked for more time and the Army has granted that request.
Dahl interviewed Bergdahl August 6th and 7th at Ft. Sam Houston in what his attorney said was a 'cordial' conversation.
Dahl will decide whether Bergdahl, 28, was absent without leave, or possibly deserted his forward operating base in Afghanistan in 2009.
Punishments could range from a discharge from the Army to administrative punishment to court martial.
