Bolner’s Fiesta Products in San Antonio was named a Texas Treasure by the Texas historical Commission and presented with the Texas Treasure Business Award.
Senator Leticia Van De Putte was on hand to help celebrate one of the city’s oldest family-owned businesses with the launch of three new spice products.
“We added three new spices: Southwest Style Fajita, Chipotle Hamburger Seasoning and Garlic Pepper,” said Mike Bolner, the company’s national sales manager. “All three spices will be available at San Antonio stores in the next two weeks.”
With cooking trends constantly changing, keeping up with customer’s changing taste pallets in Southwest Texas was a goal of the company.
“The flavor profiles in this area are asking for hotter products,” Bolner said. “People use a lot more cayenne peppers they use a lot more hot things… Serrano pepper and jalapeños are huge when you look at the section of the store our products are in.”
The new addition comes just in time for summertime barbeque season, Bolner said.
“The taste tests have been very very good,” he continued. “We have over 144 flavors that we sell and we are excited to see these grow into new favorites.”
He says one of the many reasons why people in San Antonio continue to buy their spices is because they have become a generational staple in the kitchen.
“We probably sell more blends than we do natural spices simply because of the convenience factor,” Bolner said. “It gives people something that's easy to use and they like a whole lot.”
